Euro2001 – Day 10 - St DIZIER to CAMBRAI

OK you might need your tin hats today as we skirt through some of the famous battle grounds of World War 1 and again we follow the Meuse right up in to the Foret de Chateau-Regnault as it carves its way through the valleys. Intially we make our way to Bar-le-Duc famous for its currant jams and the road from here to Verdon played a crucial role in WW1. Cross country then to pick up the Meuse which we follow up to Verdun and then all the way up to Sedan where there is a famous fortified chateau. We now enter a very tortuous route up into the forest which will require some careful navigation (we got lost on the recce!!) involving some border hopping between France and Belgium following the Semos and Meuse rivers through some beautiful valleys.
We have not found a lunch spot but you might find somehwere that suits in these riverside villages.
Down from the hills we travel to Guise where there is only military fortress in France that has preserved all the different feudal constructions; we then continue to Cambrai for our final night stop together at the Hotel Campanile.
