All Aboard for
"Butcher in the borders tour 2004"
May 21 - 24 2004
Place for 50 cars.
Richard Nicholson and Mike Ketley would like to invite you on the
"Butcher
in the Borders Tour 2004" The tour will be based in the borders between
England and Scotland over the weekend 21st to 24th May.
The Tour will start in Newcastle Upon Tyne on Friday 21st at around
lunchtime. It is then a quick blast over to the first hotel in the lake
district taking in the old Roman road along Hadrians wall and the
Hartside
and Kirkstone passes. Have a look at http://www.grasmerethistle.co.uk/
to
see the loveliness of the hotel. After dinner there may be the
opportunity for those that have not done enough driving to have an
evening
drive over some tight and twiddly passes such as Hardknott and Wrynose
avoiding the usual lake district traffic. For those that fancy a quiet
evening relaxing and chatting in the bar, you may well find us there.
Saturday sees us leave the lake district and head for the borders
proper.
A nice drive heading north through Kielder forest will take us to our
hotel for the Saturday and Sunday night, the really rather special
Peebles Hydro (http://www.peebleshotelhydro.co.uk/). Wonderful on site
health
club / spa.
Sunday will take a leisurely circular route to include the Jim
Clark
museum in Duns
and back (as you can guess, we haven't quite figured out what to do that
day, but
whatever it is, it will be a laff!).
Monday will be a drive back down south along some more great
roads and out
of the borders to a point where we will all go our separate ways.
The Boring Bits:-
We are aiming to have a target cost of about #270 per person. This may
go
up a little (or come down a little) as we firm up the tour and the
plans.
This will include lunch on the Friday, dinner bed and breakfast each
night
at the hotels and some other sundries.
To sign up for the Tour send an email to
michael.ketley@eu.averydennison.com and to
richard.nicolson@eu.interfaceinc.com
Please state whether travelling one or two up, twin, double or single
room,
the name of the passenger (if there is one), and car details (Steve W -
We
will
just assume blue fury ;-) ). The tour will be limited to a mere fifty
cars, so be quick.
We need a fifty pound NON REFUNDABLE deposit to be paid per person (NOT
per car) by the end of September. Payment method to be confirmed over
coming 10 days
We will be requesting the bulk (#150) of the money in January and then a
final top up
payment once costs are fully defined about a month before the tour.
We look forward to you coming
