During the research the births of a brother and sister were noted:

Catherine Forrester born 19 November 1904 at 18 Logie Street, Govan

Hugh Patterson born 28 November 1905 at 165 Second Avenue, Dalmuir

Somewhere in here we need to include Ralph Barriskell Jnr. . Ralph was always known to me and others as a third son of the earlier Ralph Barriskell: Robert and Hugh's brother, my Great Uncle. It would appear from the records found that, confirming whispered gossip, Ralph may not have been their brother at all. I don't really care, Uncle Ralph was the most intelligent and caring Barriskell I have ever met. Besides, he liked cars and things that go.

Update

I searched for Robert Barriskell in the Army records at the Public Record Office in Kew, London. I found Robert in the paybooks and confirmed that he had indeed served in the 63rd Regiment. Also, I noted that he was on leave from the army when he returned to Scotland to marry Mary O'Brian in December 1865. Perhaps most interesting was the fact that from his arrival his pay was forfeited. I have assumed that this means that he was serving a sentence in the Army for some crime or other. Later in his service he appears to receive his pay as normal.

Needs to be done in Ireland presumably.
